Otay Mesa is where San Diego's new industrial space gets built: tilt-up logistics buildings, truck courts and yards on the mesa by the border crossing, and the land still waiting for them. It is also some of the most straightforward product to photograph well, which is why leasing teams send so much of it out. We shoot it from the ground and the air, usually in one visit.

What is different here
Tilt-up concrete takes flat light well, so the building is rarely the hard part. What a broker is selling is the truck court, the trailer parking, the yard and how quickly a truck reaches the 905 and the border, and those read best from the air, a few hundred feet up with the docks in frame. The land around a new building is part of the story too.
Brown Field Municipal Airport's controlled airspace covers much of Otay Mesa, and Tijuana's airport sits just across the border, so the flight authorisation is filed at booking rather than on the day. The planner shows the airspace and the light for any address before you book.

Can you fly a drone in Otay Mesa?
Yes. Much of Otay Mesa sits in Brown Field's controlled airspace, so every flight is authorised before the shoot, usually at booking; the planner shows the ceiling for the address. We do not fly across the border.
What do you shoot on an industrial building?
From the air: the building, the truck court, the yard and the roads out. From the ground: the dock line, the entrances and the office. Inside: the warehouse floor with its clear height, lighting and racking, and the office. Most industrial sells in daylight; twilight is there if it helps.
Is there a travel charge for Otay Mesa?
No. Otay Mesa and South County are inside San Diego County, so a shoot there is priced like any other in the county.
